WHERE WE BEGAN

In light of the findings of unmarked graves at multiple Indian Residential School sites in the spring of 2021, our grassroots movement began. In the spring of 2022, the Lakeland Society for Truth and Reconciliation became a registered nonprofit society in Alberta. We are an Indigenous-led society that was founded by Indigenous members. Our membership is open to first and intergeneration survivors of Indian Residential School Survivors and their families, First Nations, Inuit, Métis, and non-Indigenous allies from the Lakeland area.
